Studio Fitness Shoot: Justin Walls

I did a second fitness shoot with Justin Walls, this time we shot in the studio.  I used two lights, a five foot octobank softbox camera left, slightly in front of the subject and feathered slightly toward the camera and a seven inch gridded reflector camera right and back behind the subject.  This added separation from the background on the side opposite the main (key) light.  Here are a few selections from the shoot.  Would love to hear your thoughts.

Fitness Shoot: Justin Walls

Yesterday, several of us got together to do a fitness shoot, on location, for Justin Walls.  My friend, Steve Wampler, assisted and collaborated with me on ideas.  Fitness model, Ashley Elgie, provided art direction and additional assisting.

The sweat is real.  Even though we got there right around sunrise, it was hot and even I was drenched in sweat before it was over.  A big thanks to the team for getting up early and braving the heat and ravenous mosquitos.  We had a great time and produced some fun images for Justin's portfolio.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the images.

More Bra and Panties

Since I got such a huge response from my last post of images of Carol Menendez, I thought I'd add a few more.

I'll start with this headshot.  One of the goals of this shoot was to produce a headshot that Carol could use in her portfolio.  I think we did a marvelous job with this one.  It was so windy during this shoot that we were continually having to fix her hair to keep it off of her face.  If it weren't for all of the stray, wind-blown hairs, this probably could pass for a shampoo commercial.

Don't know how I missed this one the first time around.

This last image really shows off Carol's figure.

Bra and Panties

So, I'm at work this week and my phone dings to alert me that I've received a text message. "Hey, I bought this cute bra and panty set that I think would look cute on that hammock!" it says on the screen from an out-of-town number I don't recognize.  "Damn phishing texts" I think to myself.  I then turn to my colleague and say "I wish a really got text messages like that."

Anyway, later I go to clear the new message alert and see that there's a back and forth thread of messages.  I'm confused.  No one texts me about their bra and panties.  With whom had I been chatting?  Scrolling back, I realize that it's Carol, the model with whom I'm scheduled to do a poolside swimsuit photo shoot this weekend.  Ah!  Now it makes sense.  It wasn't a come on at all.  It was business.  My mind was elsewhere--wishful thinking, I guess.

Yesterday, with the assistance of my friend Andy, we shot in said "cute bra and panty set."  Hope you like the images.  Let me know your thoughts.

Carol in the Woods

I'm Back!  I've been offline for a while dealing with a family crisis that is now, thankfully, mostly behind us.  Today we ventured out into the woods and did a photo shoot today with Carol.  Carol was a real trooper.  She held some painful poses leaning against tree bark, sidestepped poison ivy and traversed muddy creeks just to get the shots we wanted.  Thanks to my friend Steve Wampler for assisting on this shoot (and letting use some of his equipment).

For this shot, we used a 30" gridded Beauty Dish on an Alien Bee 800 strobe directly overhead and in front of the camera, just out of the frame.  We also set up a scrim high and camera-right to kill the direct sunlight off of Carol's head and shoulders.

I had great rapport with Carol and have already scheduled our next shoot.
